Our Story
Wren Indian was officially conceptualised in early 2023, but its roots go back to 2021—a time when the world had come to a standstill.
It all began when I, Nial Benjamin, found myself needing a new wallet.
I was offshore at the time when my diving supervisor Mike Hitchborn an exceptional artist, introduced me to the world of handmade leather goods. I was instantly captivated by a tote bag he had crafted,
and I knew right away—I wanted to learn how to do this myself.
When I signed off my vessel later that year and returned home during the second wave of the lockdown, I began watching videos on leather crafting. With nowhere to go and time on my hands, I ordered a few basic tools and stitched together my very first wallet. It was a hit. But back then, it wasn’t a business—just a passion.
Fast forward to 2023—again offshore, reflecting on life—I decided to take the leap. I realised this is what I love, and it was time to say goodbye to the offshore world and build something with my own hands.
That’s how Wren Indian was born.
